Bamboo shades have become more and more popular , and since an increasing number of homeowners have opted to purchase them for their homes, manufacturers have come out with new patterns and designs. Each of these patterns are unique, and posses their own distinctive style which will lend a delightful ambiance to any room that has these shades as window dressing.

Depending on a person's preference , each design can control how much light gets into the home, and the amount of privacy that the homeowner desires. They level of technical performance as window shades is superb ; coupled with the rustic and relaxing image that bamboo materials project, they make for an appealing and attractive window treatment.

Some of the most notable kinds of window treatments come in the form of the matchstick style. Bamboo stalks are cut into strips as narrow as matchsticks, and oftentimes different colors are combined to create a certain effect, add variety to the design, or match a decorating scheme. These colors can be coordinated to match a room's theme, and they are also interchangeable, making them a versatile piece of window dressing that also serves the purpose of controlling light and giving the homeowner privacy from the outside world.

Some bamboo shades even incorporate a tortoise shell pattern using larger sticks in conjunction with smaller sticks.

The matchstick style of shades takes advantage of the natural spacing found between each stick, allowing a modicum of privacy, as well as enough light control to a room. The larger the sticks are, the more privacy and light can be controlled. Sometimes, these larger sticks are combined with bamboo tubes to be consistent with the natural look that a homeowner would want to achieve . Most of these bamboo tubes are incorporated into the window treatment in almost their natural state, and often give the impression that a bamboo plant has grown by the window.

Other bamboo window treatments combine seemingly randomly placed cuts, stalks, and sticks for a different look. However, these afford only a minimum of privacy and are often used for patios and decks to further accessorize the surroundings. In some cases, other natural materials are woven into these bamboo shades, such as reeds and tough grass fibers, to give more privacy for the homeowner, and to establish a rustic and natural ambiance.

These combinations are usually woven in overlapping layers to decrease the ability of people from the outside peering in, while increasing the light control without reducing the entrance of natural light into the room. These styles are known as the bamboo-grass weave shades. They are often beautifully designed, and are very popular among homeowners whose overall home décor is composed of earthy tones and furnishings.

When choosing the right type of bamboo shades, a homeowner will need to pay attention to how these window treatments look, and the kind of effect they create. Depending on whether the homeowner prefers a more utilitarian or ornamental look, there are many styles of these shades and their variants available in the market. Light management and privacy control are also deciding factors in choosing the right kind of bamboo window treatments, and a homeowner can opt for shades with or without liners for this purpose.

With bamboo window treatments, it is possible to get the best of light control, privacy, and attractiveness with the kind of material and style of construction used for these shades.
